Transport Fever 3 map editor: plan a playable map
The editor supports generated terrain, heightmap import, biome masks and town or industry placement. Climate, map size and format are chosen before entering the editor and cannot be changed inside it.
Quick facts
- Documented answer
- The editor supports generated terrain, heightmap import, biome masks and town or industry placement. Climate, map size and format are chosen before entering the editor and cannot be changed inside it. ↗
Procedure
Choose climate, size and format before starting. Record the generator settings and seed, then inspect terrain and place towns and industries. Preserve transport corridors and test the map as a playable save before treating its layout as finished.
Diagnose the result
If a terrain import looks wrong, inspect elevation range and water level. If generation removes a settlement, check the preservation options. The manual's residual Steam Workshop wording is not used as evidence of TF3's current mod distribution channel.
Common mistake
Expecting the editor to change climate or map dimensions after the map has been created.
Evidence and version scope
The cited official manual supports the documented interface and mechanics. The procedure above is editorial guidance for inspecting your own save; it is not a claim of a tested speedrun or a guaranteed outcome. Record your installed version, gameplay settings and mods when comparing results. Release-build version: Unknown.
