Transport Fever 3 Performance — Low FPS, VRAM, Stutter & Graphics Settings
Steam 40420 improves rendering and VRAM management. Follow official low-FPS checks, distinguish graphics load from simulation load, and record your own results.
40420 performance changes
Steadier FPS with town and vehicle HUD icons. Faster rendering in some camera movements. Improved rendering with data layers active. Better graphics-memory management across configurations. These are developer-described improvements for Steam, with no measured FPS percentage supplied.
Official low-FPS procedure
For low FPS while paused, lower the graphics preset, resolution scale or output resolution. Close background tasks; check laptop power settings and connect power. Update graphics drivers. Inspect CPU, GPU, RAM and VRAM usage. High VRAM pressure suggests lowering textures; sustained GPU saturation suggests graphics/resolution changes. If individual CPU cores are saturated and increasing simulation speed has little effect, reduce simulation load such as population/town count when choosing a new map.
Graphics load versus simulation load
Compare the paused game with the running simulation using the same camera. Note graphics settings, GPU usage, VRAM pressure and individual CPU-core activity. Keep hardware, town/population size, mods and game speed constant when comparing observations. A high utilization signal suggests a test; it does not establish a universal optimal setting.
Black screens and hardware issues
A black screen after a display-mode change has a different official sequence from a startup freeze. On dual-GPU systems inspect Selected device in stdout.txt. Some 13th/14th Gen Intel systems have a listed hardware-instability issue; follow the vendor's BIOS guidance instead of assuming a game patch repairs hardware.
Benchmark and version limits
No independent benchmark performed. No recommended hardware ranking, FPS gain, optimal-preset table or independent game-performance result is invented. Steam Stable 40420 is documented on October 8, 2026. The PC notes do not confirm that Epic/GOG or consoles received the same patch. Their latest numbered official entries and the announced rollout are displayed separately. Check the installed build in the main menu; a manual or support source check is not an independent live-build test.
When to report
Before reporting, record the store/platform, installed build, operating system, hardware, mod versions, affected save and exact reproduction steps. Keep the relevant stdout.txt and crash files before another launch overwrites them. Use a copy of a save for diagnosis and the official support form for unresolved failures; no successful reproduction or guaranteed remedy is claimed here.
